A Place for Local Artists to Bring, Share and Market their Art

Whether it’s taking a workshop class, buying that one-of-a-kind gift, celebrating a special occasion with a sip-and-paint party or just browsing for treasures with friends, the Studios of Cocoa Beach is a place that offers everything to do with art.

Located at 165 Minuteman Causeway, the nonprofit co-op gallery was the brainchild of Tony Sasso.

From the entrance that boasts walls suspended from the ceilings where watercolor, acrylic, oil paintings and photography are hung to the back room that serves as a place for workshops, special gathering and a gift shop during the holidays, the unique gallery embraces a relaxed vibe with an open-air atmosphere.

Tony, who has dabbled in sculpture and painting for the past 30 years, decided to bring the co-op to fruition last year to allow local artists to bring, share and market their art under one roof.

“Because of our downtown location, we’ve had an opportunity to be involved in many of the city’s festivals and events held here, affording us both exposure and interaction with both locals and visitors. We have been a part of the Cocoa Beach Art Festival for the past two years, an event especially designed to feature local area artists. It’s been a great way to meet many of our neighbors and introduce visitors to the co-op,” he says.

Jaymee Weinreich, secretary of the board and professional artist for more than 20 years, says she is grateful to have a place to present her own paintings and socialize with other local artists.

“Art comes from the soul, and selling it is like deep sea fishing; when somebody comes in the gallery and spends money on something an artist has created, it’s like catching a big marlin or sailfish,” she says.

“When folks are looking to buy a painting for their home, I think finding the right piece is something they relate to their individual life experiences, just as an artist creating the piece may relate to when creating it.”
