Participants also work with images from nature, like plants and insects. Each day and each camp is a new project.

Eastern Florida State Music Student Selected for Carnegie Hall Program

Eastern Florida State College student Ethan Bailey-Gould, a rhythm guitarist in the institution’s jazz band, will train this summer through an intensive Carnegie Hall program that includes a concert at the famed New York City venue and a European tour.

Ethan is one of just 22 students chosen from a group of 250 applicants for the inaugural National Youth Orchestra Jazz, a four-week summer program organized for jazz instrumentalists ages 16-19.

The all-expenses-paid music program was created to give young musicians the chance to perform as cultural ambassadors on an international stage and share their uniquely American music with cultures from around the globe.

Led by trumpet player Sean Jones, the NYO Jazz will perform on the world-famous Carnegie Hall stage July 27 before setting out for stops that include venues in the Netherlands, Germany and the U.K.

Keep Brevard Beautiful’s We Noticed Program Acknowledges Exceptional Beautification and Maintenance

Keep Brevard Beautiful has launched the “We Noticed” program, a monthly recognition program that awards businesses and residences for exceptional maintenance or beautification of their property.

A press release will be submitted to local media announcing winners in the hopes of building community pride and encouraging others to participate in the program.

If you would like to see an outstanding beautification effort in the community recognized, fill out a “We Noticed” nomination form at KeepBrevardBeautiful.org.

Brevard Museum of History and Natural Science Celebrates Cape Canaveral Lighthouse

The Brevard Museum of History and Natural Science is celebrating 150 years of Cape Canaveral Lighthouse history this year with a special exhibit dedicated to the shining beacon of light. Rendered nearly obsolete through time, it’s now a popular tourist destination.

The museum exhibit will be open to the public through Sept. 29 and includes countless images and historical information on how this lighthouse dating from 1868 helped locate both Cape Canaveral Air Force Station and Kennedy Space Center right here in Brevard County.
