As I reflect upon 2018, it occurs to me that this past year seems to have had a lot of distractions and noise—and not the pleasant kind. The TV seems louder and less interesting, the political noise was much louder and more obnoxious on ALL sides (spoken like a true independent). And things that really just aren’t that important seem to have become front and center. Material things once again seem to dominate conversations, and “keeping up with the Joneses” is, unfortunately, alive and well.
As each year wraps up, we often make plans for the next year, making resolutions and goals to better ourselves and our lives. So for 2019, I have decided to focus as much as possible on the things that truly matter: my family, my beautiful and selfless wife, my three precious daughters, our friends, our partners and colleagues. I look forward to finding more balance between professional and personal commitments and just enjoying all of the blessings and opportunities life has to offer.
I plan to focus more on being thankful for what I have, less preoccupied with constantly pushing to get more out of myself and others, and simply enjoying the blessings which have been bestowed upon me and my family, both personally and professionally. It is my hope that we all can work toward this goal, focusing on the “true wealth” in our own lives, that which money can’t buy and death can’t take away, making 2019 a more fulfilling and enjoyable year for all of us. Here’s to the best year yet. Cheers!
